I am headed back to the Bay. This month I will be putting on my one-person show, “(Re)Counting (Wo)Man” at the Two-Spirit Festival, Weaving Spirits in San Francisco on Saturday, March 7th at 7 PM. I am super excited about this show as I am trying some new things- combining poetry with images and film and storytelling. I have done this type of multi-media show before but always with other artists, never alone. This time all the words and all the images are mine. My only collaborators are spirits. In my show I explore Seminole history, gender, sexuality, hybridity, and ceremony. I am speaking to and for so many camps to which I belong. Unfortunately, this show has interfered with my monthly Women of Color Medicine Series and I have had to cancel the March 7th cere-class. However, I am offering a new workshop, Medical Intuition, this Sunday March 1st at YogaLove in Oakland 2-5 PM to make up for it. Tickets on Eventbrite. The most difficult part about writing this show is the way it is influenced by my ancestors and my desire to honor them. Some ancestors are mentioned by name, others are not. They all want to be heard... what to do? I hope to do them proud. I hope to tell their stories. I hope to be a living record memorializing their lives. I would love to se some friendly faces in the audience.

Lucky me- I spent Valentine’s day at the beach with my sisterbrother Marlon. We listened to the waves and talked about twospiritedness, ancestors, Seminole history, and healing. He did most of the talking since I lost my voice in San Francisco( better than losing one’s heart!) It was good to listen. It was good to be with an old friend. We had an instant connection when we met ten years ago at a Two Spirit Gathering in Colorado. The older I get the more I have come to cherish people who get me whether or not I/we talk. Having a couple days of not working or talking has been good for me. Sometimes little sicknesses come along to knock us off our feet so we can take a break from the world and reset. I feel so grounded now. While lying in bed these last three days, I created a whole new movement for my one person show! And I got to binge watch the new WOC version of Charmed! LOL. Black, Latina, Queer, feminist witches? It doesn’t get better than that! Then too, the extra time little breaks afford always make for longer stronger meditations and better dream recall. I DO miss my hiking however. Training for the #Camino has been so much fun. But even training benefits from breaks. And anything that gets me to the beach is a good thing! So thank you to Marlon for visiting. I always take my guests to the beach because that really is the whole point of LA as far as I am concerned. I am always a better person after I spend some time at the beach. I think everyone is. When is the last time you went to the beach?

Seminoles were in the house yesterday at the Two Spirit Pow Wow! It was so good to pow wow with so many old friends from far flung places. Two Spirits from all nations came out to dance and honor one another. Here I am with Marlon Fixico who came all the way from Idaho! Other sister brothers of mine came from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Seattle, and Chicago! I didn’t dance as much as I should have and I ate more fry bread than I should have but it was an incredibly beautiful day of affirming our identity and persistent survival as Two Spirits!

Last night in Oakland we had fun working with candles to vision the future. We talked about fire-gazing in different cultures, did an exercise and then did a visioning journey. Lots of women came out on this winter night to be in community and share sacred space. Lots of healing happened. It was a beautiful cere-class! This was my 15th month coming to the Bay Area to run my women of color medicine series. In December I just completed my first Women of Color Medicine Apprenticeship Program. Next month I will begin the next cohort of apprentices. So exciting! The purpose of this work is to help women of color to develop their gifts and do self-healing so that they can use their gifts to heal each other and remake the world in our image. The future is female and when we draw on the power of our ancient traditions we as women have the power to overpower patriarchy and dismantle the corruption of the current power structures. Once we do that we can bring peace and unity to the planet, dissolving all forms of separation, and remember who we truly are as beings of light! I am doing this lightworker work all over California. Many other medicine people are doing this work all over the planet. We are forming a critical mass and we are raising the vibration of the planet. 2020 started out in a bad way with the loss of our republic but I know that if all the medicine women/light workers/burkas/hoodoo women come together we can heal this country and this world. The world needs us, our communities need us, and we are ready! What are you doing to spread the light? Had breakfast at Mama’s Royal Cafe-one of my old haunts with an old friend today. We had a great conversation about the star of the world, the role consciousness, and what we can and should do. Later, I had a rehearsal @counterpulse for my upcoming show at #WeavingSpirits. It’s a 3-day Two Spirit Festival. Tomorrow I will be offering my monthly Women of Color Medicine Series cereclass at @yogaloveoakland. An exciting week in the Bay! Are you wanting to do some visioning for 2020 and learn about some techniques for looking into the future? Come to our ceremony/class this Friday at 7 PM. Tuition: $30 I don’t know how I would live my life if I didn’t have the ability to vision and get questions about my life from a higher source. With everything going on in our country right now, we need to get some clarity!
